Shannon McClure

Executive Director

Shannon has been in the Lowcountry and Savannah area since 1997 and came to LCLV in July of 2016. Shannon graduated from Minot State University in North Dakota and started her career in non-profits as the Manager at the Ronald McDonald House in Columbia, SC. Since then she has helped develop programs and raise money for Union Mission, Inc., the JC Lewis Health Care Center and SAFE Shelter. She has acted as a consultant for special events for Seton Youth Shelters and The Samaritan House. Shannon also spent 6 years as the Manager of Strategic Planning and Business Development for Bon Secours Health System in Virginia. Her passion for non-profits and making a difference in the world led her to LCLV where she can help families ensure their equal access to justice to improve their quality of life. As the ED, Shannon is responsible for the day-to-day operations of LCLV, including implementing the policies and procedures approved by the Board of Trustees and maintaining a strong community bond through outreach and public relations.


Anne Caywood, Esq.

Executive Attorney

Anne was born and raised in Sylva, North Carolina and graduated magna cum laude from Western Carolina University in 1997. After college, Anne attended and graduated from Wake Forest School of Law in 2001. While in law school, Anne served a term as President of the Public Interest Law Organization (PILO), and accepted a national award in that same year on behalf of this Wake Forest School of Law organization. Anne was admitted to the North Carolina Bar in 2001 and practiced as a litigator and Certified Mediator in Raleigh and Winston-Salem prior to moving to Hilton Head with her family in 2011. Anne is married to Scott and their son Luke is 17 and an avid fisherman. Anne was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 2013 and worked in private practice until accepting the position as Executive Attorney of the Low Country Legal Volunteers in January of 2015. Anne is honored to serve as Executive Attorney and to serve the needs of low income individuals in the communities of Beaufort, Hampton and Jasper. It is Anne’s desire to ensure that our clients are provided equal access to justice.

As Executive Attorney, Anne acts as the attorney-of-record on just about every case that comes through the door. While she relies upon volunteers for much of the work that goes into preparing a case, Anne manages all aspects of the services provided to clients – from deciding which cases to accept to determining how to pursue each case. Anne supervises both the lay volunteers and the volunteer attorneys.


Icela Chapa

Bi-lingual Paralegal

Icela Chapa is a native Lowcountry bilingual paralegal who graduated from the Technical College of the Lowcountry in 2013. She began her paralegal internship at Lowcountry Legal Volunteers and has enjoyed helping those in need for legal assistance, so much she has never left. Icela enjoys everything the Lowcountry has to offer from going to the sandbar in the summer to a fall oyster roast.

As LCLV’s Bilingual Paralegal, Icela is the main point of contact for all of our Spanish-speaking clients. Additionally, Icela conducts intake appointments, drafts documents, and assists the Executive Attorney.


Adrienne Kastan

Office Manager/Volunteer Whisperer 

A Virginia native, Adrienne graduated from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA, with a Business Degree, majoring in Hospitality and Tourism Management. She began her career in South Carolina at an Ocean Front resort in Myrtle Beach. After a few years on the beach front, moved back to Virginia working as a Catering Manager at Farmington Country Club in Charlottesville, VA. She then spent a few years at the Omni in Richmond, VA before moving to Tucson, AZ. And then landing with her husband in the Hilton Head area in April, 2016 and are enjoying the island way of living!
