Lowcountry Legal Volunteers provides free, critical legal services and education through community volunteers and retired lawyers to low income individuals and families in Beaufort, Hampton, and Jasper counties.
Keri Jordan Olivetti founded Lowcountry Legal Volunteers in August 1998 when she realized that many in our community lacked access to necessary legal services. Lowcountry Legal Volunteers opened its doors in August 2000 with an initial grant from the Hilton Head Island Foundation.
Lowcountry Legal Volunteers is a grassroots organization funded entirely by individual donations and grants from local religious institutions, community foundations, charitable organizations, and businesses. We receive no state or federal government funds. We have a small but dedicated paid staff of four, but what really makes our organization successful are the talents and hard work of our many volunteers. We couldn't do the work we do without them.
On January 31st we will be holding our first Disaster Recovery Clinic,
made possible by a grant from the Community Foundation
of the Lowcountry, at the St. Helena Library from 4-6pm.
For six months, beginning in January, we will be stepping outside our realm of family law to do an outreach initiative in low income communities to provide answers and resources to questions regarding Hurricane Matthew. A disaster relief grant from the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry and additional funds from the Heritage Classic Foundation have made these efforts possible. Read More
